Health Benefits of Using a Grounding (Earthing) Mat and Sheets
Many people experience grounding and most are not even aware of it. When you walk barefoot outside on the earth’s surface or in the soil you are grounding. When you walk barefoot on the sand at the beach you are grounding.
Grounding mats and sheets are designed to replicate the effects of direct contact with the Earth’s surface by connecting to a grounded electrical outlet. It is believed that grounding can reduce inflammation, pain, and stress. Grounding has been very beneficial to me as another healing modality that I use to help me overcome the effects of autoimmune diseases.
Here are some ways that grounding has helped me:
1. Reduction in Inflammation
Grounding has helped my inflammation by normalizing my body’s electrical charge.
2. Pain Relief
Grounding has helped alter my pain signaling pathways, leading to reduced pain perception.
3. Improved Sleep and Stress Reduction
Grounding has helped support better sleep by normalizing my circadian rhythms which helps me to sleep deeper and feel more rested upon waking.
4. Enhanced Immune Function
With autoimmune disease, my immune system is overactive. I have incorporated grounding mats and sheets in my toolkit to help regulate my immune responses during the day and while I sleep to help balance my autonomic nervous system.
